WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —
Senior Melissa Postoll continued to shine at the 2017 Big Ten Championships Friday night, setting a new school record in the 400 individual medley. 

Postoll claimed the consolation final in 4:08.76 to finish ninth overall and earn the Wildcats 20 team points. Chicago's Big Ten Team sits in seventh in the team standings with 350 points through 14 events. 
 
Senior Ellen Stello gave the 'Cats two of the top 12 in the 400 IM by finishing 12th with a season-best 4:13.82.

Freshman Krystal Lara capped off her Friday by scoring in three events. She finished 20th in the 100 back (54.60) and 23rd in the 100 fly (54.33) and 200 free (1:49.28).

Sophomore Olivia Rosendahl follwed up her silver medal in the 1-meter Thursday with a 10th-place finish in the 3-meter Friday. Rosendahl scored a 321.25 in the consolation final after just narrowly missing out on the top eight in the prelims.

Senior Annika Winsnes scored 14 points for the 'Cats with a 13th-place finish in the 200 free, touching the wall in a season-best time of 1:46.89.

The Wildcats' 200 free relay team of junior Mary Warren, freshman Malorie Han, junior Anna Keane and Winsnes finished tied for seventh with a season-best 1:31.11 to earn 45 team points. 

The Big Ten Championships will conclude Saturday with the preliminary session beginning at 10 a.m. CT. The final day of events includes the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and platform diving competition.

Freshman Krystal Lara was the Wildcat star of Friday morning's preliminary session, qualifying for bonus finals in the 100 fly, 200 free and 100 back. Lara started her morning with a season-best and NCAA 'B' cut 54.31 to qualify 23rd. Her time marked the seventh best on the NU Top 10 performers list. She nailed another NCAA 'B' cut standard in the 200 free, finishing in a season-best 147.92 to qualify 19th. Again she cracked the NU top 10 in as the eight-best performer in program history.

The Staten Island, New York, native finished her morning with arguably her best performance, finishing 19th in the 100 back in a time of 54.36. It marked her third NCAA 'B' cut of the morning and moved her up to No. 3 on the NU Top 10 performers list in the event. 

All six Wildcats who competed in the 100 fly to open the day set season bests, including personal bests by Mary Warren, Alex Grimes and Lindsay Adamski.

Seniors Melissa Postoll and Ellen Stello both qualified for the consolation final in the 400 IM with season-best times. Postoll just narrowly missed the championship final, finishing ninth with a 4:12.44. Stello qualified 14th for the 400 IM final with a NCAA 'B' cut 4:15.36. Senior Lauren Abruzzo and freshman Sandra Freeman also swam season-best times.

The Wildcats advanced two more to Friday night's final in the 200 free as senior Annika Winsnes joined Lara by swimming a season-best 1:47.01 to qualify 15th and earn a spot on the bonus final. Malorie Han and Anna Keane posted season bests, while Lacey Smith swam a personal best 1:49.97.

Four Wildcats swam season-best times in the 100 breast prelims, but the 'Cats were unable to advance anyone to Friday's final session. Sophomore Peyton Greenberg led the way with a personal-best 1:02.58, marking the seventh-best performance in program history.

A day after a dramatic finish to the preliminaries that catapulted her into the finals of the 1-meter competition, sophomore Olivia Rosendahl was unable to repeat her effort as she just missed the top eight. Rosendahl scored a NCAA Zone Standard mark of 309.55, but qualified 10th to advance to the consolation final.
