MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Northwestern freshman Lauren Abruzzo (Kent Denver/Denver, Colo.) concluded her record-breaking freshman year with a strong finish during the final days of the NCAA Championships.
Swimming in the 1,650 freestyle, Abruzzo posted a time of 16:11.57, finishing in the top 25 in the nation. She placed No. 21 in the race and posted the fifth fastest time in the Big Ten.
Abruzzo placed No. 4 in the mile during the Big Ten Championships and set the Wildcats record in the race earlier in the season with a time of 16:10.40. She reached the NCAA Championships as a freshman and competed each day, swimming in the 500 free and 400 yard IM.
