WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Chris Kontos' sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning plated Chris Lashmet with the winning run as Northwestern walked off with a 3-2 victory over Dartmouth Sunday afternoon.

Both starting pitchers were outstanding as NU's Francis Brooke and Dartmouth's Cole Sulser went toe-to-toe.

The Wildcats had taken a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh when Jack Livingston brought Lashmet home with a sac fly.

After putting the Big Green down in order in the eighth, Brooke was in good shape to finish off a complete game. He retired the first two batters in the top of the ninth before running into trouble. Back-to-back hits put runners on the corners with two away when the 'Cats opted to bring on closer Paul Snieder. Jeff Onstott came through with an RBI single, though, to tie the game.

It was Lashmet who started the winning rally in the bottom half of the frame as he started the inning with a single. Snieder's bunt moved Lashmet to second and he then went to third on a passed ball, setting up Kontos' flyball to center that plated the winning run.

Neither team managed more than one baserunner in any of the first three innings before Dartmouth dented the scoreboard first in the top of the fourth. Consecutive doubles by Sam Bean and Chris O'Dowd put runners on second and third before a groundout by Onstott plated Bean. However, the Wildcats answered right back in the bottom half as Trevor Stevens was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Snieder's double.

Both Brooke and Sulser held the opposing offenses at bay until the Wildcats broke through to take the lead in the seventh. Brooke went 8 2/3 innings, scattering seven hits while striking out six. Snieder was credited with the win.

Lashmet, who had six hits in Saturday's two games, followed it up with a pair of hits against the Big Green with two runs scored. Snieder also had two hits in the contest.

Northwestern continues its spring break trip Tuesday as it opens a two-game series at NC State.
