ST. LOUIS, Mo. - With a combined 19 victories spread out over five wrestlers, Northwestern finished the NCAA Championships in 14th place with 39.0 points. The Wildcats posted the sixth-best finish of all Big Ten schools.
"I'm proud of the way we competed here this weekend," Head Coach Tim Cysewski said. "To finish in the top-15 in the nation is a great accomplishment. And with all of these guys coming back next year, we can only get better."
14th place is the second-best finish of a Wildcat team in Cysewski's career. The best came in the 1989-90 season -- his first season at the helm -- when he guided the 'Cats to fourth place.
The Championships came to a close Saturday evening, as Oklahoma State won five of five title bouts en route to capturing its third-consecutive title with 153.0 total points.
