Women's Lacrosse Loses to Harvard, 9-3

EVANSTON, Ill. - Coming off an impressive second half against nationally ranked Johns Hopkins Tuesday, the Northwestern women's lacrosse team was looking forward to Thursday's neutral-site game with Harvard.

For 10 minutes, that excitement was justified. The Wildcats led off with the first goal in the ninth minute from Sarah Albrecht. Harvard stormed back quickly with a pair of goals 18 seconds apart, before Angela McMahon knotted the game at 2-2 in the 13th minute

However, Harvard ultimately took control of the contest. The Crimson broke the tie with a goal at the 13:19 mark, and added another just 1:22 later. By halftime, the Crimson lead was up to 5-2.

NU has made a habit of coming out strong in the second half during this first season, but Thursday that was not the case. Instead, it was Harvard who scored in the third minute, then two more times before the half was nine minutes old.

Albrecht ultimately scored again for the 'Cats, but the score was already 9-2 at that point.

Northwestern will close out the spring trip Saturday, meeting Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.
