
Women's Tennis Defeats BYU, 5-2

EVANSTON, ILL. - The Northwestern Wildcats (2-0) defeated Brigham Young Saturday night in women's tennis action at the BYU Indoor Tennis Center in Provo, Utah. The Cougars fall to 0-1 on the season.
In doubles, the Cougars took two of the three matches for the first point. NU's only doubles win was at the No. 2 spot, where Shannon Duffy and Marine Piriou defeated Dominique Reynolds and Liza Khoudoiarova, 8-4.
Northwestern easily won the singles competition, winning in straight sets at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6, with the highlight coming at No. 3 where Duffy came from behind to win her match in three sets. The 'Cats' only loss came at the hands of No. 53 Jodi Richardson, who defeated Colleen Cheng (6-4, 7-6) in the No. 1 match.
The 16th-ranked Wildcats are next in action on Sunday, Jan. 21 at Utah.
