SUMMARY: The Northwestern men's soccer team opened the 2000 Big Ten season dropping a hard fought game 2-0 at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill. The `Cats were led by freshman Matt Miclea and sophomore Justin Lesch as they each had two shots on goal. In goal, Chris Berlin saved five shots as Ohio State outshot Northwestern 15-6.
Doing the damage for the Buckeyes were Justin Cook and John Tomaino. Cook took a pass from Brian Feldhaus and beat Berlin to the lower right corner to put OSU up 1-0. Just over seven minutes later Tomaino fired a shot past the outstretched arms of Berlin from the top of the box putting the game out of reach.
