
Women's Tennis Falls to Illinois, 4-3

EVANSTON, ILL. - In a battle for first place Saturday afternoon, the the 13th-ranked Northwestern women's tennis team fell to Illinois, 4-3, in Evanston. Northwestern fell to 14-3 overall, 4-1 Big Ten while Illinois improved to 8-9, 5-0.
Illinois came out strong, winning the doubles point despite an 8-1 NU win by Katherine Nasser and Colleen Cheng at No. 1. Nasser, Shannon Duffy and Cheng posted singles wins in the top three spots of the ladder, but Illinois responded by winning the last three matches to win the meet.
The biggest upset occured at No. 4, where Lia Jackson saw her unbeaten dual record come to an end in a three-set thriller. The sophomore won the first set, but lost the second 7-5 and then went to a third-set tiebreaker before finally succumbing to Illinois' Natasha Loebnitz.
