Women's Swimming Falls to Indiana in Big Ten Opener

EVANSTON, Ill. -
The Northwestern Women's Swimming and Diving squad fell in its Big Ten opener to Indiana Saturday afternoon in Bloomington. The Wildcats won eight of the 16 events yet fell, 168.5-131.5.
Freshman Katie Simmons (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) was a triple winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.33), 200 breaststroke (2:16.55) and the 400 IM (4:21.31). Joining her in the win column was Maria Reeves in the 50 freestyle (23.97), Erin Swenson in the 200 freestyle (1:51.64), Erica Rose in the 1000 freestyle (10:09.83), Tashy Bohm in the 200 backstroke (2:02.07) and Merritt in the 100 butterfly.
Second places went to Swenson (100 freestyle and 100 butterfly), Bohm (100 backstroke), Adams (200 butterfly), Nicole Bernard (200 backstroke), the 400 free relay and the 200 medley relay.
The Wildcats are now 0-1 on the season and will next face Wisconsin on Friday, November 10 at the Norris Aquatics Center in Evanston.
