The Northwestern men's soccer team dropped its ninth game of the season as they traveled to South Bend, Ind., to take on the the University of Notre Dame. The final score of the contest was ND 2, NU 1.
Notre Dame started the scoring in the 13th minute when Justin Detter headed a Matt Russo pass into the left corner beating Northwestern goalkeeper, Chris Berlin (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette). Berlin finished the game with eight saves upping his season total to 49.
The Irish had the lead for only four minutes before Northwestern's Jun Kim (Lake Forest, Ill./New Trier) took a pass from Paul Elkins (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) in front of the ND net and fired it between the sticks to tie the score at 1-1.
Just two minutes into the second half, Detter combined with Filippo Chillemi and Erich Braun to score his second goal of the game.
Northwestern falls to 0-9 on the year as Notre Dame improves to 4-5-1.
