EVANSTON, Ill. - The 10th-ranked Northwestern women's swimming and diving team recovered from Friday night's loss to No. 8 Michigan with a 173-124 win at Ohio State Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats were led by double winners Amy Balcerzak, Tashy Bohm and Dominique Diezi. Balcerzak placed first in the 100 breaststroke (NCAA `B' standard 1:03.44) and the 200 IM (2:05.61), Bohm was a winner in the 100 backstroke (56.70) and 200 backstroke (2:02.03), and Diezi claimed the 100 freestyle (51.57) and the 200 freestyle (1:53.68).
Other winners for Northwestern were Allyson Bowman in the 50 freestyle (24.25), Rachel Johnson in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.94) and Hyun Soo Suh in the 500 freestyle (5:00.62). The Wildcats also swept the two relays on the day, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:45.60 and the 200 free relay in 1:35.07.
Northwestern closes out the dual meet season with a 4-5 overall record and a 2-3 Big Ten mark. The Wildcats will next swim at the Big Ten Championships, which will be held in Indianapolis the weekend of Feb. 18-20.
