Men's Swimmers Split Double Dual

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's swimming and diving team gained a split in its double dual meet at Ohio State this weekend, rallying to defeat Kenyon -- who has won an unprecedented 20 consecutive Division III men's swimming championships -- 181-139 while losing to the host Buckeyes, 245-96.
Junior Steve Steketee (Golden, Colo.) and senior Steve Harms (Maumee, Ohio) turned in winning performances for the 'Cats. Steketee won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:40.40 on Friday, while Harms took the 500 free in 4:31.30 on Saturday.
Junior Todd Capen (Lisle, Ill.) also turned in a solid performance, finishing second in the 400 IM (4:01.76) and third in the 200 butterfly (1:52.12) and 200 IM (1:54.70). Freshman Kellan O'Connor (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished second in the 100 butterfly with a finishing time of 51.53.
Northwestern returns to action on Sat., Feb. 5 for its final home meet of the season. The Wildcats will take on Iowa at 2 p.m. at the Norris Aquatics Center.
