Joseph Werner, MD, joined the Sports Medicine team as a Sports Medicine Fellow in July 2026. In this role, he assists the medical staff in providing comprehensive care for athletes in both the clinic and during sideline event coverage.

Dr. Werner earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University Chicago in 2018 before completing his Doctor of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2023. Prior to fellowship, he completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Loyola University Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident. During college, he worked as a rehabilitation aide at Athletico in Evanston, an experience that first sparked his interest in sports medicine and caring for active individuals.

Originally from Tinley Park, Illinois, Dr. Werner enjoys golfing, exploring new restaurants, and going to the movies in his free time.
